Lew (with some powerful help from Robert Higgs) absolutely nails it regarding that purposefully vapid New York Times Magazine article about libertarianism.
Compare that shallow "Libertarian Moment" article with the analogous NYT Mag article from 1971, "The New Right Credo." The 1971 piece makes the 2014 piece look like something out of a high school newspaper. It actually dared present the outlines of libertarianism as a thoroughgoing and deeply challenging philosophy. I wonder if the difference is because in 1971, the establishment editors felt secure enough to afford to do so, while in 2014 they feel too threatened to do so.
